Believe me, such a thing would have been headlines worldwide if it were true. It's just one example of the crazy things people will believe when they are looking for a reason to spout hatred.Sharonhttp://www.napwithoutguilt.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6747811654977962943.post-26732865048262391282009-12-09T18:47:49.540-05:002009-12-09T18:47:49.540-05:00I don't think that can be true. The kids must have been 'bemused', to say the least. Good God! However, I will admit to teaching slightly older Korean kids to sing "Purple-People-Eater." :giggle:

I am amazed by people who want to tar all of an ethnic or religious group with the same brush. I had an outpatient procedure I was getting ready for, so haven't been on top of things lately. (All is well, hurray!) I will stop by your place soon.

Beth, I know how well you can visualize everything, so you made me giggle. Yikes. The stuff of nightmares.

Good for you for keeping your cool with the floor installer and showing him compassion. I tend to get a little agitated when confronted with such ignorance, but I think your reaction was much better. Who knows, perhaps you gave him food for thought and even planted seeds of change. In addition, America's ethnocentrism is baffling.

I'm retired and serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I recently taught Jr Achievement to a third grade class. This is an American program which hasn't thought about their international customers. I live in a small village and we made simulated paper donuts to demonstrate unit and mass production. Well, at least that's what we were suppose to do. We never actually got to the lesson as we were too busy talking about what a donut might taste like.
